Info/Biography[Info not updated in 2012]
His breakthrough was the gold medals at EOC in Ukraine 2000 - and came back for his next individual championships gold medal by winning the EOC middle distance in Bulgaria exactly 10 years later. Part of the strong Russian relay team - taking 3 gold medals and 4 silver medals between 2004 and 2010. Strong runner in continental forest, but often struggles on very long courses and hot weather. Has had problems with the russian federation and was omitted from the WOC 2005-team. Alledgely because he failed to report certain WADA-documents to the federation in time. In SUI 2003 he was dsq on the long distance qual because he was too late for the check-in time. His first WOC-gold came when he anchored his russian team to the relay gold in WOC 2006. Also won the EOC relay in 2008 and decided Jukola 2008 in favour of his team Delta. Married with national team member Julia (prev. Sedina). Younger brother Leonid also an eliterunner. Nominated for the Orienteering Achievement of 2006 for as anchor bringing Russia to a historic World Championship gold in the Relay. Novikov\'s run on the last leg was one of the highlights of the 2006 World Championships.

Info/Biography[Info not updated in 2012]
World Champion relay 2010 and EOC gold medal long distance in 2008. Junior World Champion from Estonia 2003 showed his strength in Baltic terrain once again by surprisingly winning the long distance at EOC 2008. Changed club from OK Tisaren to Angelniemen Ankkuri ahead of 2009-season. Nominated for Orienteering Achievement of the year 2008 after being the big surprise of 2008 when coming from nowhere and taking the gold medal over the long distance in EOC in Latvia. He was accused for following - but has since shown that he really belongs to the world orienteering elite, e.g. by taking a 5th place at WOC 2009 in the long distance.
