His breakthru was the gold medals at EOC in Ukraine 2000. Strong runner in continental forest, but often struggles on very long courses and hot weather. Have had problems with the russian federation and was omitted from the WOC 2005-team. Alledgely because he failed to report certain WADA-documents to the federation in time. In SUI 2003 he was dsq on the long distance qual because he was too late for the check-in time. His first WOC-gold came when he anchored his russian team to the relay gold in WOC 2006. Married with national team member Julia (prev. Sedina). Younger brother Leonid also an eliterunner.
