Fabian Hertner
ClubKalevan Rasti (FIN) / OLV Baselland (SUI)
Born date24.02.1985
Info/BiographyOnly selected for the relay in WOC 2011 - even if taking two 3rd places in the first World Cup races of the year. Stepped up as one of the top Swiss runners behind Daniel Hubmann with his silver medal in WOC 2009 in Hungary on the sprint medal. In 2010 he challenged Hubmann several times - especially on the sprint distance - winning the sprint in the European Champs in Bulgaria. Continued with winning a silver medal at the World Champs sprint in Trondheim later the same year - after having drawn a close to perfect copy of the sprint map in advance. Also won the first ever KnockOut sprint in the World Cup in Sweden which was the second stage of the Nordic Orienteering Tour. Showed at EOC long in 2010 that he is not only a sprinter by taking the bronze medal. Nominated for the Orienteering Achievement of 2009 for coming out from the shadows of the big Swiss stars, taking a surprising Silver medal in the World Championships Sprint. On top already as a junior with JWOC-gold on homeground in 2005. Showed in EOC 2006 that he has great potential for the future.

Daniel Hubmann
ClubKristiansand OK (NOR)/ OL Regio Wil (SUI)
Born date16.04.1983
Info/BiographyFinally got his BIG WIN at WOC long 2008, after four silver medals at EOC and three in WOC. Surprised many by beating Gueorgiou for the overall WC 2008. Struggled with injuries in 2010 and 2011 - but still managed to take a bronze medal in the World Champs in Trondheim in 2010 over the middle distance and winning the overall Nordic Tour in 2011. Has two younger brothers: Beat and Martin. The dominant male runner in the world in both 2008 and 2009. Has a lot of self confidence as he knows that nobody in the field can run away from him in the forest, he is strong in all terrain types, and he has a good last sprint. Very strong sprint results, but Hubmann has developed to a real allrounder. Originally a carpenter, but turned professional and made orienteering his profession. Deciding both Tiomila and Jukola 2009 in favour of his team KOK on the last leg. Junior World Champion who took the step to the senior class easily. Important relayrunner in the Swiss team. Surprised a whole orienteering world when he sprinted past Emil Wingstedt to give SUI a bronze medal at WOC-relay 2005. Awarded the Orienteering Achievement of 2009 for being the first male orienteer, who wins medals in all 4 disciplines in one World Championships, 2 of them gold. Awarded the Orienteering Achievement of the year 2008 after finally winning a WOC title after being very close for several years - his WOC long distance gold medal was very deserved and popular. Also: Victory in overall World Cup 2008.
